Star Wars Has Already Revealed Grand Admiral Thrawn"s Greatest Weakness

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka episode 8
Summary
  • Grand Admiral Thrawn, despite his intellect and genius, has a weakness - he needs his enemies to know he's won and how they've lost.
  • This weakness gives his enemies time to react and potentially turn the tables on him, especially in the eleventh hour.
  • Combined with the unpredictable nature of Jedi and their use of the Force, it shows that Thrawn is not invincible despite his return to the Star Wars galaxy.
Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) emerged victorious in Ahsoka's finale with his return to the known Star Wars galaxy. However, he also exposed his greatest weakness in the show's finale. For all of his intellect and genius as a master tactician capable of leading the Imperial Remnant, Thrawn does possess one flaw his enemies can exploit in the near future as the galaxy heads for a brand-new conflict between the original and sequel trilogies of films.
As seen in Ahsoka's finale episode, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and her apprentice Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) were unable to prevent Thrawn from escaping his exile in another galaxy, having been stranded for over 11 years in the Star Wars canon. However, Jedi Ezra Bridger was able to sneak aboard Thrawn's Star Destroyer, ending his own exile with Ahsoka and Sabine now being the Jedi heroes stranded in another galaxy. However, a key moment preceding Thrawn's victory shows how the galaxy's heroes will likely be able to defeat him in the near future.

Grand Admiral Thrawn Needs His Enemies To Know He's Won It's so secret that Grand Admiral Thrawn is a master strategist, having been one of the Empire's greatest leaders prior to his exile thanks to Ezra Bridger as seen in the series finale of Star Wars Rebels. Had Thrawn been present during the events of the original trilogy's Galactic Civil War between the Empire and Rebellion, the odds of the Rebels' victory over the Imperials would have been dramatically lower (more than they already were). As such, Thrawn is now primed to become "Heir to the Empire", taking command over the Imperial Remnant in order to form a true Imperial Resurgence as Star Wars' New Republic era continues.
Thrawn has never been one to act out of emotion or impulse. He's incredibly patient and calculated, forming creative strategies and contingencies following careful and dedicated study of his rivals' backgrounds, culture, and critical flaws. As such, it's not uncommon for Thrawn to be five steps ahead of his opponents, though Ahsoka's finale exposed one of his primary weaknesses: he needs his foes to know he's won and how they've lost. This can be seen when the Grand Admiral opens a com channel to speak with Ahsoka, declaring his victory and knowledge of her master Anakin Skywalker before his ship jumps to the known galaxy.
