New MCU fan art brings to life one cathartic scene that was left out of Sylvie's story in Loki season 2. Sophia Di Martino debuted as Sylvie, a female variant of Tom Hiddleston's Loki, during Phase 4's Loki season 1, teaming up with the God of Mischief to uncover the truth behind the Time Variance Authority, and seek revenge for having her life stolen. Loki season 1's finale saw Sylvie complete her mission and kill Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains, unleashing the multiverse on the MCU. Di Martino reprised the role for Phase 5's Loki season 2, which picked up with Sylvie in a very different place than before.
After making her way back to Earth following He Who Remains' death in the Citadel at the End of Time, Sylvie found herself in a branch of McDonald's in Broxton, Oklahoma in 1982. The ending of Loki season 2, episode 1, "Ouroboros," saw Sylvie ordering everything from the menu. Marvel Studios failed to show Sylvie's cathartic meal, but new art shared by raychelwho imagines what Sylvie's first free meal would have looked like.
Sylvie tucks in to cheeseburgers, a filet-o-fish, and fries in the MCU fan art. The art also captures Sylvie's sheer delight at finally being able to relax and eat after spending her life hiding in apocalypses.

Loki season 1 ended with Sylvie killing He Who Remains, paying no heed to his warnings that his death would lead to an infinite number of his more brutal variants being unleashed on the multiverse. Immediately afterward, Sylvie took a sigh of relief, having completed the mission she'd dedicated her life to since the TVA captured her as a child. Loki season 2, episode 1 revealed that Sylvie traveled straight from the Citadel at the End of Time to Broxton, Oklahoma in 1982, using He Who Remains' TemPad. Coming across a McDonald's, Sylvie realized that she was finally free, having gifted free will to all the inhabitants of the multiverse.
To that end, Sylvie works at McDonald's in Loki season 2 simply because she now has the freedom to make that choice. Sylvie always just wanted a simple, everyday life, and she could finally get that at McDonald's. Loki season 2 director Dan Deleeuw revealed to Variety that McDonald's was chosen because it's "timeless," and that using a familiar restaurant like McDonald's allowed audiences to get clued in on Sylvie's mindset very quickly. Sylvie wanted to be normal, just like the staff at the McDonald's, so became a staff member there herself.
