Marvel Just Made This Dark Theory About Teen"s True Identity Even More Compelling

Warning: this article contains SPOILERS for Agatha All Along
The latest Agatha All Along episode just made one dark MCU theory about the true nature of Teen"s identity even more convincing. Agatha All Along is crammed with mysteries, particularly regarding the true identities of certain characters. Teen has arguably been the biggest enigma as a sigil prevents him from elaborating on himself, including his name. Agatha All Along episode 5, however, has come closer than ever to revealing Teen"s identity without explicitly mentioning his name, all but confirming the prevailing theory that he is the MCU"s Wiccan.
The reveal came as part of a generally pivotal episode that saw the coven at their most fractious. Alice was drained of her powers and killed by Agatha after attempting to save her from the ghost of her mother, Evanora Harkness. After developing a bond over several episodes, Alice"s death would enrage Teen and finally turn him against Agatha, spurring him to reveal his magical powers as the episode ended with what would appear to be the attempted murder of her, Jennifer, and Lilia.
Agatha All Along Teased Teen Is The Villain Teen Has Been Suspicious Since Episode 1 Close Agatha All Along has been sowing seeds of a clandestine motive ever since Teen was introduced to Agatha in Agatha All Along episode 1. Agatha All Along takes place three years after the events of WandaVision, with Agatha trapped in a personal Westview Hex inflicted by Wanda during that time. Teen presents himself as a novice with magic, stating that he wishes to travel the Witches" Road to boost his skills, but still proves capable of breaking the hex of one of the most powerful characters in the MCU.
Doctor Strange states to Ebony Maw in Avengers: Infinity War that breaking the spell of a dead sorcerer is particularly difficult.
Agatha herself calls this out when she states "If you"ve got the goods to break a spell cast by the Scarlet Witch, why do you need the Road?" Teen"s feigned naïveté would persist, however, despite being pivotal in assembling the rest of Agatha"s coven. It is when enlisting the help of Lilia Calderu that Teen visibly bristles at being referred to as Agatha"s "Pet," an insult that Agatha repeats moments before Teen snaps and unleashes his magic to overpower three of the witches in Agatha"s coven at once.
Teen"s veneer of ignorance momentarily cracks as his eyes meet Jennifer"s at the mention of the name, suggesting he is well aware of the entity that has thus far gone unmentioned in the MCU.
This same subtle acknowledgment occurs when Jennifer Kale brings up the possibility that Agatha"s son, Nicholas Scratch, is an "Agent of Mephisto." Teen"s veneer of ignorance momentarily cracks as his eyes meet Jennifer"s at the mention of the name, suggesting he is well aware of the entity that has thus far gone unmentioned in the MCU. While Teen has stopped short of overtly sabotaging Agatha and the coven on their quest, it is hard to ignore the signals he has put out suggesting that his motives aren"t overt.
Did Teen Make Agatha Kill Alice? Agatha Insisted That She Didn't Know What She Was Doing Close A darker theory about Agatha All Along episode 5 suggests that Teen himself orchestrated Alice"s shocking death at the end of the third Witches" Road trial, which occurred after Agatha drained her of her power. At the climax of the episode, Teen demonstrates his powers of possession, controlling the minds of both Lilia and Jennifer to restrain Agatha. This came moments after Agatha insisted that she was unaware of what she was doing to Alice, suggesting that her mind was not her own at the time.
In Marvel Comics, Wiccan demonstrates a similar power level to Wanda Maximoff.
The proximity of these events is hard to ignore, as there has thus far been no hint that Agatha cannot control her powers. She did, after all, consciously attempt to drain the Scarlet Witch of hers in WandaVision. If it is the case that Teen was responsible for making Agatha kill Alice, thereby turning the rest of the coven against her, the fact that he and Alice had been developing a connection until that point makes his actions feel particularly nefarious - even if he is out to seek vengeance for Agatha"s previous antagonism towards his family.
Is Teen The Real Villain Of Agatha? Turning Wiccan Into A Villain Would Be An Off-Piste Origin Story Close Although Agatha All Along is a solo series about a character that has repeatedly proved villainous, several demonstrations of compassion and regret have helped to soften her reputation. This morally gray territory muddies the waters when it comes to Teen"s apparent intention to foil her, but it would still make sense to have this prospective hero be the villain of a villain"s story. On the other hand, turning Wiccan - a founding member of the Young Avengers - into a villain at all is a little too counterintuitive for a show that would double as his own origin story.

It remains unlikely, therefore, that Teen will eventually be positioned as the villain of Agatha All Along. At its core, Agatha All Along is designed to warm the character of Agatha to its audience, and Marvel would be undermining any attempt to position Wiccan as a virtuous Young Avenger by having him take her down so brutally, especially when including such egregious collateral damage as Alice and Sharon. Thankfully, as-yet-unseen trailer footage featuring Teen and Agatha gives a positive prognosis for the notion that, despite their current qualms, the two main characters of Agatha All Along will find common ground.
