As Prodigy season 1 unfolded, it revealed a complex time travel plot where the Vau N'Akat from an alternate 25th-century timeline sought to destroy Starfleet in the 24th century. With the help of Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), the crew of the Protostar saved Starfleet and the galaxy, which opened up the question of their future in Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 as the young heroes arrived on Earth with hopes of joining Starfleet Academy.
