Following its theatrical run,
The Marvels has its release date on Disney+ revealed. Despite The Marvels' exciting Easter eggs and connections to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe — and other Marvel universes — as well as an exciting trio of leads, the movie ended its box office run as the lowest-grossing MCU movie ever. While many fans ended up not catching the movie in theaters, The Marvels' bombshell ending and fun story might find a new audience now that the movie is headed to Disney+ soon.
According to Marvel Studios on Twitter, The Marvels will arrive on Disney+ on
February 7. The date comes almost three months after The Marvels' November 10, 2023, theatrical release.
Marvel also shared a brief trailer to promote the reveal of The Marvels' streaming release date.
The footage teased The Marvels' action-packed story, with no snippets from The Marvels' huge post-credits scene, as Marvel Studios chose to focus on the fun dynamic between Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau.
Related The Marvels Review: Delightfully Fun MCU Entry Is A Much-Needed Return To Form The Marvels is an uproariously fun and action-packed comic book movie that's made all the more delightful by the heartwarming dynamic of the leads. The Marvels' Streaming Release Could Redeem The MCU's Biggest Box Office Bomb
2019's Captain Marvel saw Brie Larson's Carol Danvers enter the MCU with a bang. The movie ended its global run with over $1.1 billion. While The Marvels not only brought back Carol but also made her second solo movie a team-up entry by adding Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan and Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau, the film ended its box office run as the lowest-grossing MCU movie ever.
According to Box Office Mojo, The Marvels ended its theatrical run with $206 million, lower than The Incredible Hulk's $264.7 million worldwide. Following the movie's negative MCU title, The Marvels could find redemption with its Disney+ release. Contrary to many recent MCU releases, The Marvels does not have any of the major VFX or story issues that have contributed to increasing criticism over the direction the MCU is headed in.
With not many having seen the movie due to the recent tumultuous state of the MCU, The Marvels is bound to gain over fans who did not see the film in theaters when it releases on streaming. The Marvels perfectly handles the dynamic between its heroes, presents the necessary context for those who missed Ms. Marvel or WandaVision, features an exciting power problem impacting its lead trio, and teases the X-Men's future in the MCU. If
The Marvels is successful on Disney +, perhaps the studio might have renewed interest in making Captain Marvel 3.
The Marvels releases on Disney + on February 7.
