Superman & Lois Season 4"s First Cut Cast Member Revealed Due To The CW"s Axed Budget

One of the original Superman & Lois stars is officially not returning for season 4, as The CW's budget axing is starting to go into effect. After months of speculation about the Arrowverse's future on The CW, the network finally made a decision for the 2023-2024 TV season, as Superman & Lois is officially back for season 4. Reports had indicated that only one of the two remaining DC TV shows - the other being Gotham Knights - would get to continue for another year, making The CW's line-up next season the lightest it has ever been when it comes to superhero shows since the Smallville days.
One of the stipulations that allowed Superman & Lois season 4 to get greenlit was a severe budget cut within the cast, as season 3 had over ten series regulars this year. Not even 24 hours later and the first cut cast member has now been revealed, as Dylan Walsh, who plays Sam Lane, has been confirmed, through his wife Leslie Bourque-Walsh on Instagram, that he was affected by the budget cuts.
It's unclear if General Lane will even get a sendoff at the end of Superman & Lois season 3, which was already confirmed to end with a cliffhanger. Given the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, it will likely be some time until it's clarified how the show will handle his exit.
