After Deadpool & Wolverine I Need To See Ryan Reynolds In Thor 5
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Summary
I was expecting Deadpool to join the MCU permanently at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine, so I was a little confused when this didn't happen. However, establishing Fox's X-Men Universe as another reality in the MCU's multiverse means this can still happen in the future, and, given Thor's tumultuous recent adventures, I think bringing him and Deadpool together would be a brilliant choice. Deadpool & Wolverine has only solidified my belief in this idea, so it would be great to see the Merc with a Mouth pop up in Marvel Studios' as-yet-unconfirmed Thor 5.

Chris Hemsworth has currently been given more solo MCU movies than any other character in the franchise, and this is set to continue with Thor 5. This movie hasn't yet been confirmed by Marvel Studios, but I'm one of many who want to see Thor redeemed after a disappointing stint in 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder. After Deadpool & Wolverine, introducing Deadpool into Thor's MCU story could help to bring about a new tone, a fresh perspective and an exciting new adventure for the God of Thunder.

This is, of course, informed by the scene in Deadpool & Wolverine which saw Thor crying over a dying Deadpool in what Mr. Paradox describes as "a distant future." Archive footage from Loki's death in Thor: The Dark World was used for this scene, but Deadpool catching a glimpse of his future with Thor prompted him to mention Hemsworth's Avenger several times throughout Deadpool & Wolverine. It's clear that Deadpool and Thor will be connected in the MCU's future, and I reckon Thor 5 is the best place for this to be realized.

Love and Thunder was missing these moments of emotion, exposure and vulnerability, so Marvel Studios should learn its lesson and bring back what worked so well in Ragnarok for Thor 5. For this reason, I would love Deadpool to be included in Thor 5, even though Love and Thunder already set up a great storyline for the upcoming movie.
Brett Goldstein's debut as Hercules in Love and Thunder's post-credits scene teased a battle between him and Thor, but this fight can still be featured even with Deadpool's involvement. Both Deadpool and Thor have battled Hercules in Marvel Comics. Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool could begin Thor 5 in opposition to Thor, but the movie could see the pair battle Hercules together, bringing them closer and eventually leading to the scene from Deadpool & Wolverine. Deadpool's stellar reputation and huge popularity would bring some much-needed love back to the MCU's Thor franchise.
Thor: Love and Thunder's post-credits scene is one of many that Marvel Studios hasn't yet paid off, so resolving this in Thor 5 would be a very good idea.

While I would love for Deadpool and Thor's friendship to start to blossom in Thor 5, it's unclear exactly when this unconfirmed movie will actually release. There are several empty slots open in the MCU's Phase 6, but I think it's likely that Thor and Deadpool will meet for the first time in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. These movies, directed by the returning Russo brothers, are expected to converge the different realities of the MCU, including Thor's Earth-616 and Deadpool's Earth-10005, so it makes sense that Deadpool & Wolverine's Thor scene would happen here instead.
Marvel Studios confirmed the Russo brothers would return to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars at SDCC 2024, which will also feature Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU, only as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.
Indeed, the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine could also convince Marvel Studios that sequels to Ryan Reynolds' first MCU movie are necessary. Deadpool & Wolverine had the biggest opening weekend of any R-rated movie in history, and have continued Deadpool's spin as one of Marvel's most popular characters. It makes sense to me that Marvel would capitalize on this, and further Deadpool & Wolverine sequels could easily feature more MCU heroes, including Chris Hemsworth's Thor.
