Secret Invasion Will Tease Secrets About James "Rhodey" Rhodes" MCU Future

Secret Invasion director Ali Selim hints at James "Rhodey" Rhodes' secrets, history, and future coming into play with the new Marvel series. "Rhodey" has been a fixture within the MCU since the beginning, first introduced as Tony Stark's close friend in Iron Man before becoming the hero War Machine in Iron Man 2. Though he has helped Tony throughout the Infinity Saga, the war veteran was severely injured in Captain America: Civil War and lost his best friend in Avengers: Endgame.
James "Rhodey" Rhodes is one of the few original MCU heroes left, and he will finally be more fully explored in Armor Wars. But first, he'll return in Secret Invasion. During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for Secret Invasion, Selim teased secrets about Rhodey and hinted at the history and future of the character coming into play. Ali Selim: I think there were some secrets about Rhodey's character that needed to be delicately woven through the story and some consistencies from the history going into the future. Don and I talked endlessly about it on the phone; very collaborative.

What Secrets Could Be Revealed About James "Rhodey" Rhodes In Secret Invasion? Secret Invasion is expected to set up Rhodey's journey in Armor Wars, which will likely dig into Tony Stark's legacy. What's intriguing is that Selim doesn't say whether Rhodey's secrets will be revealed in the series. Given the plot of Secret Invasion, one possibility is that Rhodey is actually a Skrull, but that would completely change his arc within the MCU both in the past and the future.
