Star Wars Officially Confirms KOTOR"s Most Formidable Jedi Force Power Is Canon

Summary
  • Battle Meditation, a powerful Jedi ability from the Legends game Knights of the Old Republic, has been reintroduced into Star Wars canon.
  • Porter Engle, a character from the High Republic novels, was confirmed to have used Battle Meditation during The Rising Storm.
  • The absence of Battle Meditation in the prequel trilogy could be explained by George Lucas not having the concept at the time of production but also by the Jedi forgetting the ability over time due to the shadow of the Sith and the ability fading from memory over time.
An immensely powerful Force ability from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has finally been brought into official Star Wars canon. Knights of the Old Republic was a video game set in the Star Wars universe released in 2003. The game takes place in the titular Old Republic era and details the Sith-Jedi war that dates back millennia in the Star Wars galaxy. However, the story of the game was dubbed Legends upon Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm which led many to wonder whether any of the game's abilities, storylines, or characters would ever be re-canonized in the franchise through either the sequel trilogy or other upcoming Star Wars movies.
Since then, some elements of Knights of the Old Republic have been reintegrated into Star Wars canon. From the way Star Wars' KOTOR defined the Sith to characters like Darth Revan being referenced in the visual dictionary of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, several aspects of the Legends story have been canonized by extended canon materials. A more recent case of this was made clear during Lucasfilm's publishing panel at NYCC 2023 in which Star Wars confirmed one of KOTOR's powerful Force abilities has been used in canon by a character named Porter Engle from the franchise's High Republic novels.
