Aubrey Plaza"s Death showed off some of her incredible powers in
Agatha All Along, and I would love to see her return to the MCU to demonstrate even more of her remarkable abilities. I was thrilled to see Aubrey Plaza, one of my favorite Parks and Recreation stars, make her MCU debut in Agatha All Along, and I could think of no better character for the deadpan but charismatic actor than Death. Plaza"s Rio Vidal, originally depicted as a Green Witch, was confirmed to be the formidable cosmic entity Death in Agatha All Along episode 7, "Death"s Hand in Mine."
I spotted many clues in Agatha All Along that Rio Vidal is actually Death prior to this being confirmed.
Rio appeared on the Witches" Road after Sharon Davis" demise, stayed behind after Agatha Harkness" trial after Alice"s death, and was repulsed by Evanora Harkness" ghost appearing and suggesting that she, in fact, was Death. Death has shown off some impressive powers in her short career in the MCU, but one in particular, displayed in Agatha All Along episode 8, "Follow Me My Friend/To Glory at the End," sticks out as one of my favorite moments in the MCU"s history.
Death Slicing Through Reality Is One Of My Favorite MCU Moments Death Cut Open The Walls Of Reality In Agatha All Along Episode 8
After Lilia Calderu revealed the truth about Rio Vidal to the remaining members of the coven in Agatha All Along episode 7, Billy Maximoff and Jennifer Kale processed the news while Agatha Harkness spoke with Death back on the Witches" Road. Death revealed that she knew
Agatha was trying to distract her from Billy Maximoff, who Death described as an "abomination" that she wanted to reclaim. Agatha suggested she could get Billy to sacrifice himself to Death in exchange for Death leaving her alone, and Death agreed to these terms.
Related I Can't Believe The MCU Introduced A Huge Part Of Thanos' Origin Story 5 Years After His Endgame Death Marvel Studios has just introduced a character who is central to Thanos" backstory in Marvel Comics, even though the Mad Titan died back in Endgame.
4 Following this exchange, Death pulled off one of the MCU"s most powerful feats, which instantly became one of my favorite moments in the entire franchise. To leave the Witches" Road,
Death took her knife and sliced through the fabric of reality, exiting into the black void beyond. This was a simple moment, but was incredibly effective at showing off the sheer might of Death"s power. I thought this stripped back and simple moment was very clever, and made me excited about the possibilities for Death"s future in the MCU.
I Want To See More Of Death’s Abilities In The MCU’s Future Marvel Studios Has Only Scratched The Surface Of Death's Abilities Close As an abstract cosmic entity, Death has an incomprehensible level of power that makes her nigh-omnipotent and far more powerful than practically any other character both in Marvel Comics and in the MCU.
Death cannot die, as she is not truly alive, has the ability to manipulate time, space and matter, and has the ability to change her form at will. We"ve seen some of these powers in Agatha All Along, but she"s mostly only demonstrated powers any other witch would be able to show off, so I"m looking forward to seeing more of Death"s specific abilities.
Death spared Billy Maximoff at the end of Agatha All Along, despite his soul inhabiting and resurrecting the dead body of William Kaplan.
Seeing Death slice through the walls of reality and exit the Witches" Road has proved that she is capable of some remarkable feats. The fact that Agatha Harkness absorbing Death"s power led to her instant demise, and Death was able to hastily transform her corpse into a flowerbed proves that the surface of Death"s power set has barely been scratched.
The combination of one of my favorite actors, Aubrey Plaza, and one of my favorite Marvel characters, Lady Death, is a match made in heaven, and I can"t wait to see more.
Death’s Show Of Strength Proves Why Practical Sets Are Superior Agatha All Along Used Practical Sets For Added Realism
I appreciate the thought that went into the moment when Death sliced through the walls of reality, and this wouldn"t have been possible without the use of practical sets. The majority of the sets in
Agatha All Along were made physically, including the entire Witches" Road and the locations of each trial. Realistic paintings expanded the Witches" Road"s horizon, and it was one of these that Aubrey Plaza"s Death tore open.
This proves the huge advantage of using practical sets in MCU projects, as they can help to demonstrate the incredible power of some of Marvel"s strongest cosmic beings.
