After 11 Years, Rey"s New Jedi Order Movie Means Star Wars Is Finally Doing New Villains

Rey's new Jedi Order movie finally gives Star Wars the opportunity to explore new villains. Confirmed at Star Wars Celebration 2023, Rey's new Jedi Order movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and take place 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The film will see the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker, as she looks to rebuild the Jedi Order as the peacekeepers of the galaxy once more.
With the film being set in the future of the Star Wars timeline, the franchise has a chance to do something truly new and unique for the first time under Disney's control. While the Star Wars sequel trilogy was divisive in terms of fan reaction, there is no denying that only Star Wars: The Last Jedi attempted to take the franchise in a unique direction. With Rey's new Jedi Order in Star Wars though, this could be the case through one important facet of the series: the franchise's villains.
