Phoenix earned an Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Arthur Fleck/Joker, and the movie itself also won the Oscar for Best Picture. The movie provided a fascinating insight into the human side of the villain, as well as interpreting one possible origin story for the character. Joker’s success was a clear reflection of audiences’ appreciation of the movie, which introduced a new aspect to the comic book genre that translated to massive critical success.
