Mohamed Diab's comments suggest Moon Knight season 2 won't be developed for the MCU. Oscar Isaac debuted in the MCU's Phase 4 as Marc Spector, a former mercenary with dissociative identity disorder (DID) who shares his body with alternate personalities Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, and is also the avatar of the Egyptian god of the moon Khonshu. Khonshu transformed Spector into Moon Knight, a supernaturally-gifted vigilante who battled Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow and the goddess Ammit during 2022's Moon Knight series on Disney+. Moon Knight is often regarded as one of the strongest additions to the MCU's Phase 4, but the future of the series hasn't yet been confirmed.
Although the potential development of Moon Knight season 2 hasn't been officially confirmed, Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab recently spoke to Arabic Marvel (via The Cosmic Circus) to reveal more about the Marvel Studios creative process, and his hopes for the continuation of the series. Unfortunately, Diab mentioned that "Loki is the only series [Marvel] said will be in two parts," suggesting that Moon Knight season 2 may have never even been considered at Marvel Studios. Moon Knight established some exciting new characters in the MCU, but it seems their stories will be continuing in other projects outside the world of Moon Knight itself. Marvel had determined it from the first day. Marvel’s series projects are all six episodes except for special projects like WandaVision. The usual format is six episodes. Loki is the only series they said will be in two parts from the first day. Marvel’s way is not the usual way where if the project succeeds, I say let’s renew it for a second season. It’s their plan, successful or not, they have a plan.
